ABOUT AJME

What is Really Going On?

The Association of Journalists on Mining and Extractives (AJME) is a media advocacy and capacity-building network based in Sierra Leone. AJME was formed to train and support journalists covering mining, natural resources, and environmental governance. Activities involve conducting workshops on reporting standards, tracking licensing and transparency in the extractives sector, and critiquing national mining policies and legislation (such as the Mines and Minerals Act).

AJME also conducts community events to educate local populations on their rights to the resource wealth stemming from the extraction of these natural resources. That money needs to contribute to the development of the regional economy from which it was taken - NOT line the pockets of corrupt politicians.

AJME is the most honest and raw source of information on the ground you can get as we continue to compare the stories told from the media and what's actually happening on the ground.
